Why is the operating time sometimes too short even if the battery has been fully charged?

Question

Short operating time even if the battery has been fully charged.

Answer

Check the following.

Battery performance decreases with temperature. In cold environments, we recommend keeping battery in a warm place before using, such as the inside of a coat. Batteries can recover their power when they warm up.
The battery is discharged quickly if you frequently use the flash or zoom, or record movies. If your camera is equipped with the GPS function, setting GPS setting to On while shooting discharges the battery quickly, too.
When you store the camera after charging the battery, remove the battery from the camera as the battery is discharged little by little even if the camera is turned off.
If you use a lithium-ion battery and do not use it for a long period, it is recommended to fully charge and discharge it by using it with your camera at least once a year to maintain its performance. While storing, the battery should be removed from the camera.
If you use a nickel hydride battery and charge it repeatedly while its capacity remains, a discrepancy occurs between the remaining capacity indicator and the actual remaining battery capacity. Fully discharge the battery once and charge it, then the indication is corrected.
If the terminal section of a battery is dirty, the battery may not be charged properly. Wipe the dust away on the terminal with a dry cloth or a cotton swab. Do NOT touch the terminal with your hands or metals.
A battery capacity slightly decreases by using the battery or as time advances. If the operating time of the battery extremely shortens, replace the battery with a new one as the battery may be dead.

If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camera may need to be repaired.
