    For owners of Walkman X series, we offer NWZ-X1050/X1060 firmware update program to the latest version 1.11. Please read carefully the following instructions.

    This update utility is not necessary if your Walkman has already been updated to firmware version 1.11 by the automatic firmware update function.

    Applicable Products
    NWZ-X1050, NWZ-X1060 with firmware lower than 1.10.

    What the firmware offers
    This update retains the following functions after the YouTube video receiving method change. Which render the functions inoperative if the update is not applied.

    • "Keyword Search" and "Related Videos" functions.
    • "Related Links" function, which is called up from the music playback screen to search for YouTube videos.

    Benefits provided by previous update and included in version 1.11:

    • Displaying and navigating Web sites will be improved.

      Note
      "NetFront" browser installed in your device will be upgraded with this update. After the upgrade, the browser will not display Thai language fonts any longer. If you want to be able to display Thai language fonts, do not perform this update. 

    How to confirm the Model and the Firmware version
    Please confirm the Model and the Firmware version from the steps below.

    1. Press the HOME button until the Home menu appears.
    2. Tap Settings, Common Settings, and Unit Information.

    Before Updating
    To perform this update, the WALKMAN needs to have at least 50MB free space. Follow the steps below to confirm the available free space.

    1. Press the HOME button until the Home menu appears.
    2. TapSettings, Common Settings, and Unit Information.

      Confirm the “Free/Total Memory Space”.

    We strongly recommend that you first back up all the data (music and files) contained in your WALKMAN to your computer before proceeding with the update.

    Details

    Download procedure

    1. Set up the folder for storing the downloaded file on the hard disk.
      Assuming the folder is named FWUP and is created in C drive.
    2. Save the downloaded file NWZ-X1000_V1_11.exe (44.7 MB) in this folder.

    Note:

    • When downloading the program and updating the firmware, log on to the computer with the administrator name or with any name which belongs to the administrator.
    • If you are Windows 7 user or Windows Vista user, “Windows needs your permission to continue” message appears in the User Account Control dialog box. Click Continue to proceed, and follow the announcements.

    Update procedure

    1. After completion of the download, connect your units to your PC by USB connection.
    2. Close all running programs on your PC.
    3. Double click the saved NWZ-X1000_V1_11.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions and make sure that the WALKMAN is not disconnected from the computer before the update is complete, although USB disconnection messages may sometimes appear on your computer.
    4. At the end of the update process the message that the update is complete appears. Click Finish.
      Your WALKMAN is now updated.

    Firmware Update Verification
    Make sure that your WALKMAN is correctly updated by checking the firmware version. The update is successful when 1.11 is shown on the screen.

    1. Press the HOME button until the Home menu appears.
    2. TapSettings, Common Settings, and Unit Information.
      Confirm the Model and the Firmware version.

    Troubleshooting Firmware Errors

    • In case the following message is displayed on your computer: "The update data file cannot be transferred because there is not enough available disk space in the device."
      Delete some songs in the unit, or transfer to PC to available disk space more than 50MB. Then, start to update again.

    • In case the following message is displayed on your computer: "The software update of the NWZ-X1050 (or NWZ-X1060) device to version 1.11 timed out."
      The update may have failed. Click Finish. Follow theUpdate procedureand retry to update.
