Can I create a high-definition (HD) disc using the PlayMemories Home software?
HD movies can be burned to recordable Blu-ray Disc and DVD media. Before creating a Blu-ray disc or DVD, download and install the latest version of the PlayMemories Home software.
Complete information about creating a Blu-ray disc or DVD in HD quality is provided on the PlayMemories Home Support website:
- Creating a Blu-ray disc with HD picture quality
- Creating a DVD (AVCHD recording disc) with HD picture quality
Depending on the recording mode or the frame rate of the HD video, the software will automatically convert the recording to the appropriate format. Refer to the tables below for details.
For Blu-ray discs:
Recording mode (Bit rate) Frame rate | PlayMemories Home |
---|---|
3D recording (28Mbps) 60i/50i | No image quality change |
PS (28Mbps) 60p/50p | No image quality change |
For DVD discs:
Recording mode (Bit rate) Frame rate | PlayMemories Home |
---|---|
3D recording (28Mbps) 60i/50i | 2D recording Converted to FH (17Mbps) |
PS (28Mbps) 60p/50p | Converted to FH (17Mbps) and 60i/50i |
FX (24Mbps) 60i/50i | Converted to FH (17Mbps) |
FX (24Mbps) 24p/25p | Converted to FH (17Mbps) and 60i/50i |
NOTES:
- When creating a DVD, videos recorded in the PS or FX recording modes may take some time to burn because the video bit rate requires conversion.
- When creating a DVD, videos recorded in 3D by 3D-compatible cameras do not take much time converting the 3D video to 2D. This is because the images recorded with the left-side of the camera lens are saved as 2D images.
