This is a decent camcorder but is difficult to use the menus. The navigation button is difficult to use; you have to sort of hook the button with your finger; do not swipe it. It is a decent camcorder; it has 30x optical zoom that is probably its best feature.

I bought a Handycam about 15 years ago. It was AWESOME, but I lost it in a move. So I bought a new one. This camera is the worst. Charging light won't work, battery wont charge....I thought I got a lemon, but nope, same issue straight out of the box again. Sony quality has tanked.

I was able to receive this camcorder through a rewards program at my employer. It just arrived and I was amazed at how small it is. I have 2 much older tape-based Sony camcorders and I'm going to transfer those videos to a solid state drive and just stick with this small camcorder. One weird thing is that there is no external memory card included. So I purchased two 256-gb SDXC cards, the small Sony camera case and the Sony travel charger as well. But I am really amazed at the size. I can't believe how far camcorders have come in teh past 20+ years!

So far so good It has the right number of features for what I need, I see no need to pay for features I do not need like Wi-Fi, the video quality is very good, so far just use it for you tube, not taken any stills yet, the menu is easy to navigate, so yes so far so good.

My last real experience with a video camera was a large clunky model. This new Sony model is extremely light with very simple controls. Superb clarity and sound. A great purchase.

I bought my first Sony Handycam about 8 years ago & it lasted a lot of use. I use it for a wide variety of clips when I want small equipment I can carry easily. After the first died, I just bought me a new one. I'm very happy with it. Easy to use. Captures good footage especially with good lighting. Captures sound reasonably well too.

I spent some time researching SONY video cameras to find one that fulfilled the need to record design work in progress, as an aid to evaluating modifications to provide feedback for later reference. This model was chosen for its compact design, intuitive user interface, and plenty of access to modify its settings. This is the first video camera I have found able to correctly enable viewing of OLED displays through its fine-tuned exposure control, without flare and desaturated colour....sharp focus and high-resolution at very low light levels is maintained at high quality. The 'Play Memories' software did not work with MacOS X 10.13.6, but this may be due to my anti-virus protection software. However, this is not an issue, since when plugged into the Mac by USB cable, the camera appears as a drive on the desktop, and the video files are easily accessible for copying across to a permanent hard drive....which I prefer. Various clips were assembled and then captioned in Adobe Premiere, to provide an archival record of this stage of progress in the current project. This camera will be very useful in a whole range of current and future research work.

Love using a device solely for capturing video. Very nostalgic seeing old Camcorder footage. The CX405 is basic making it super easy to use. No touch screen so no need to constantly wipe the screen every 5 minutes. Good old fashioned buttons. Good battery life and with a good sized memory card, hours of recording time. No 4K but the HD does not fail to impress. Low lighting conditions also not an issue. Due to low low price this gives confidence to carrying it everywhere. Can recommend the carry case LCS-BBJ. This clips onto a belt.

I bought this camcorder to replace an earlier model. Had to source micro memory cards but so far it's proved very useful and easy to use. We've yet to replay videos through our TV but no reason not to expect continued satisfaction.

I am using this camera to video my Son's youth Football games. So far I have used it once and I love it! It seemed a little light and almost cheap at first for how much it costs but after using it I love it! It's easy to use and the picture is great! I needed to zoom up close and it does absolutely great!

An excellent camera with many features which once explored add much to taking and making photos and movies. The design is sensible and it is an easy camera to hold and operate. Superb zoom and focussing, and a fold out, easy to angle, viewer makes using the camera fun and safe. The charging/usb cable is nicely concealed in the strap and I found the camera excellent when using a tripod. The camera is light, which betrays it's quality construction and technology. There is also a movie highlights feature which adds to the quality of video making. The handbook is useful when first setting up, but there is also an online/downloadable manual which expands on this. The on/off switch is handy, literally, and the menu dropdown etc is easy to use once familiarised. All in all an excellent Sony product.

I bought this camcorder last month and I’m glad I did because of its reasonable price compared to the great features, it has a wide angle, lightweight and very simple to use. I also like the auto smile picture capture and dual video file capture that save my time to compress the file for sharing and save a lot of my hard disk space

I have no complaints about the picture quality. The micro sd card determines how long you can video/number of pictures taken before having to load it on the computer for editing.

I bought this for almost a month, my main purpose is to be used as a camera with zoom for my OBS to project live to the LED Wall behind the stage for events. Overall, the performance of the zoom function is cool, that I am zooming from almost 25 meters. Perhaps, if equipped with following functions, would make the product even better: 1. Recording during charging. The CX405 only provides playback mode while charging. 2. Hot shoe mount. 3. Microphone input. 4. Filter ring screw thread. 5. Wi-Fi.

I used this for candid videos of my daughters wedding. The weekend was overcast, and my nephew did an excellent job. I just used it again on a sunny day, and the kids that used it couldn’t see what they were filming. The pics turned ok but the kids were frustrated. An eye piece to see what you are shooting would be a plus!

i received the cx405 last week and have used it a few times before i go on holiday to learn how it functions and it was real easy to use and i was impressed with the colour reproduction.I wanted to upload the videos to my computer and play back on my tv to make sure things were running smoothly and after a few minutes everything was go.So i would definately recommend the cx405

Tried getting a hold of someone for help. Good luck getting help. Their camcorders are horrible. I bought mine 2018 and it's ruined one of my SD card. Another old camcorder of theirs stopped taking cassettes. All of these contain memories of all of my dogs who died. NEVER BUY ANY SONY PRODUCT!!!!

I bought this in 2018, used this maybe a few dozen times and I'm starting to have problems. It's been freezing and making memories I have on the card, skip or distorted. These cards I have are memories of three dogs that have passed on. I'm very upset considering I haven't used it much and it's already crapping out. This is the second Sony camcorder that has done this. I will NEVER buy Sony camcorder again. I have memories of my now deceased dogs where words are cut out and pictures distorted. And yes, I'm great at keep my things clean and away from moisture and heat.
