ZV-E10M2 Product Discovery

    ZV-E10M2: Microphone tips

The built-in microphone of the ZV-E10M2 records quite clearly, but when sound is especially critical, you can attach an external microphone manufactured by Sony.
Note that in either case, sound is not recorded in slow-motion/quick-motion (S&Q) shooting.

    Using the built-in microphone

The intelligent 3-capsule microphone of the ZV-E10M2 excels at picking up sound. Outdoors, you can reduce wind noise with the supplied wind screen for even clearer recording of the speaker’s voice.

    Position of the built-in microphone
The microphone is in the center on the top of the camera.

    Wind screen

Attach the wind screen to the multi-interface shoe.

With the lens facing the user, the multi-interface shoe (B) is on the right side of the built-in microphone (C). Attach the wind screen (A) to the multi-interface shoe.

    Microphone Directivity

The directivity of the built-in microphone can be selected from Auto, Front, All Directions, and Rear, allowing the main subject’s voice to be clearly recorded in a variety of scenes. In movie recording mode, the directivity will change each time you press the Microphone Directivity touch function icon.

Position of the Microphone Directivity icon
    Auto
Automatically switches the direction of sound pickup (front or all directions) according to the recognized subject and tracking status.
    Front
Picks up sound in front of the camera.
    All Directions
Picks up sound from all directions around the camera.
    Rear
Picks up sound behind the camera.

    Adjusting the audio recording level

For easy adjustment, Audio Rec Level is included in the function menu by default. You can adjust the volume from the function menu as follows.

    1. To access the function menu, while the movie recording screen is displayed, press the Fn (function) button or swipe up on the LCD screen.
    2. Tap Audio Rec Level in the function menu, or with Audio Rec Level selected, press the center button of the control wheel.
    3. To adjust the volume, tap − (minus) or + (plus) or press the left/right sides of the control wheel, and then select OK.

    Notes

Adjustments of the Audio Rec Level made in the camera menu also apply to the built-in microphone and (microphone) terminal input, and the analog audio input from the multi-interface shoe.
