Preparation
Check the System Software Version of Your Lens
Follow the instructions below to check the lens system software version. If the system software version is Ver. 01 or earlier, the update is required.
- On the camera, select Menu → Setup → Setup Option → Version.
- The lens system software version is displayed.
Saving the System Software Data to a Memory Card
IMPORTANT: Make sure there is only one LENSFW_SEL2070GV2D.UPD file on the memory card.- Click the Download button.
- After reading the disclaimer, click Download.
- Save the file to your computer.
- Insert the formatted memory card into the computer.
- Save the LENSFW_SEL2070GV2D.UPD file in the root directory of the memory card. Do not change the file name.
Notes:
- Please format the memory card in advance using this camera.
- Before formatting, copy the data to a computer or other device.
- Once you format the memory card, all the data recorded on the memory card will be deleted and cannot be restored.
- Please refer to the instruction manual of the camera for compatible memory cards.

Note: The update can only be performed when the battery power level isat least three bars or 51%. We recommend that you use a fully charged battery. Detach the vertical grip before you update the lens system software.
Updating the Lens System Software Version
Important Notice
- When performing the lens system software update, please use a fully charged rechargeable battery pack.
- Attach the lens to the camera before performing the lens system software update. Make sure the camera is turned off.
- Do not remove the battery during the update as the sudden loss of power may render the camera inoperable.
- It may not be possible to update if the camera temperature is high. Please wait to update until after the temperature drops.
Step 1: Update the Lens System Software
- Insert the memory card that contains the saved system software data into slot 1 of the camera. Only slot 1 will recognize the system software data.
- Select Menu → Setup → Setup Option → Version.
- Select Lens.
- Confirm that the current software version is Ver.05 or earlier, and then click Software Update next to the version number.
- Select Execute on the system software update confirmation screen. The software version update will start.
Notes:- Do not remove the battery or memory card during the update.
- After confirming the details, you may click Execute.
- Please scroll down the screen as necessary to view the full text.
- The update process starts and the progress bar is displayed on the camera (approximately 60 seconds).
- The update process is finished when the “Lens update complete.” message is displayed on the camera.
Remove the battery from the camera and complete the as instructed.
Step 2: Confirm the System Software Version of Your Device
- Insert the battery into the camera and turn it on.
- Select Menu → Setup → Setup Option → Version.
- The system software version will be displayed.
The update was successful if the screen shows Ver. 02.
