How do I use Chromecast built-in (Google Cast) on Sony's Android TV™?

As an alternative to the Miracast feature or Screen mirroring, enjoy casting your photos, videos and TV shows, music and other streaming services using your Android™ or iOS Apple mobile device or using the Google Chrome browser on your computer.


This article defines what and how to use the Chromecast built-in (Google Cast) feature using the Google Chrome browser or using Chromecast-enabled (Google Cast-enabled) web sites or apps.

NOTE: Additional troubleshooting steps are available if you encounter these symptoms when using the Chromecast built-in feature:

Android TV is not being detected as a Chromecast built-in device. The Cast icon is not being bon the mobile device , or even if it is displayed, Cast does not work.

If the Chromecast built-in function of Android TV does not work after doing the troubleshooting above, check these settings to make sure the Google Cast Receiver or Chromecast built-in app is not disabled in Android TV.

  1. Press the HOME button on the remote.
  2. Select  Settings.
  3. Select Apps in the TV category.
  4. Under the Apps, select System app.
  5. Under the System app, select Google Cast Receiver or Chromecast built-in.
  6. Set it to Enable.
